RFK Jr.’s Priority Plan To Put Peptides In Pharmacies Pushed To White House

A requested policy for adopting an alternative medicine is slotted for approval pending permission from the White House.

Following the sanction of six peptide drugs from the Food and Drug Administration this summer, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) submitted an action plan Thursday for peptide medication to President Donald Trump’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Getting the peptides approved as compounded drugs in select pharmacies, has been a main priority for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., ever since he took the reins at the HHS.

The American Academy of Peptide Medicine (AAPM) is the listed requestor on the “Interim Access Policy for Compounding Certain Peptides” put forward to the OMB.

Lee Rosebush, chair of the American Academy of Peptide Medicine (AAPM), told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a provided statement that the official posting at OMB is a welcome signal that the process is moving forward, and action could not come soon enough for patients.

“We are encouraged by this progress and see it as an important step toward safe, regulated access,” Rosebush told the DCNF in a statement. “We urge HHS and FDA [Food and Drug Administration] to place these substances on the interim bulk drug substances lists, which would give patients a safe, legitimate source and help eliminate the black and gray markets. We look forward to the agency’s final decision.”

Founded in 2025, AAPM is a nonprofit academic society “dedicated to advancing the responsible clinical use of peptide therapies,” its website says.

“We unite physicians, researchers, pharmacists, and policymakers committed to evidence-based practice and meaningful policy engagement in one of medicine’s fastest-growing disciplines,” add’s the nonprofit’s company profile.

AAPM has catalogued a total of 174 peptides as part of their research and reference index, their website shares.

HHS did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment by time of publication.

In July, the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted to approve six out of the seven peptides put forward for consideration. Peptides are made up of short chains of amino acids — the building blocks of proteins — and are mostly given as injections.

Rosebush and healthcare entrepreneur Brigham Buhler authored “The Peptide Revolution” — a book explaining the health benefits of peptides, how they target specific receptors, can reduce unwanted side effects and are often tailored to individual goals such as fat loss, muscle growth, recovery, cognitive performance and hormonal balance.

Secretary Kennedy reaffirmed his dedication to get peptides off the black market and approved for patients in a post on his X account in April and has been working to get the drug approved.

“We will follow the science, enforce the law, and deliver the clarity patients, providers, and pharmacies deserve,” Kennedy said on X.
